Rama Navami

Rama Navami is the celebration of the appearance of Lord Ramacandra. He is the incarnation of Krsna who took form as the most ideal person and a model king. While Gaudiya Vaisnavas focus their worship and center Sri Sri Radha Krsna and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, they certainly do not miss this holy day for Sri Rama’s appearance. Rama Navami is a more celebrated holiday in India, where many temples conduct Rama katha, or holy discourses of Lord Rama’s pastimes.

Devotees are encouraged to perform a complete fast until sundown, in order to allow more time to read and chant the names and pastimes of Rama. These can either be found in the Canto 9 of the Srimad Bhagavatam or the Ramayana.
