Matta
tala is a rhythmic cycle that consists of nine beats.
The tala is quite rare due to its unusual structure.
From the bols, it is assumed to be a tala that was meant to be played on the tabla,
rather than the pakhawaj. This tala
is divided 2+4+3. Although the playing structure is designed as such, the
easiest way for time keeping sake is to view this as a 6+3
timing.
