IFP
UPDATE:
Hari Bol!
Up to this point, songs from A through H have been
updated with increased functionality and updated links. In addition, the
language pages, authors page, and articles page are
updated. The Krsna Culture page is almost completed. Some minor outdated links
and picture files will need to be redone.
UPDATES
ON THE IFP:
The KKSongs Homepage, News Page, Song Lyrics Page,
Song Indexes A, B, C, D, Music Page, Language Index Page, Scripts Page, and all
song lyrics beginning with A, B, C, and D have increased functionality.
SCRIPTS
PAGE PHASE I COMPLETED:
For the last two months, this site has converted the
most common devotional songs into their respective fonts using Unicode.
Therefore, the old page will be deleted in one month from today. Thus Phase I
is completed. The future phases will be significantly slower, but will be
uploaded and posted at a steady rate.
INCREASED
FUNCTIONALITY PROJECT:
The next major agenda for KKSongs.org is to improve
functionality for each song page. As of now, each song was independent without
any exits, unless there was a bonus link available (i.e. purport, musical
notation, foreign translation, word-for-word synonyms, a KKSongs original audio
clip, and the song in its Indian script). For instance, if one wanted to
research the author of the song, one would have to go back to the main page and
click the authors page for the listing of the authors.
One might end up forgetting the song or just got lost in the whole process! In
order to ease transitions between pages and improve the interconnectivity of
the site, the author’s name and the language in the heading will be hyperlinked
to a link containing their respective pages. If the song is a part of a bigger
text or songbook, then the book name will be hyperlinked to that page. If any
field is blank, no hyperlink will be provided.
In addition, the upper logo of KKSongs.org will be
hyperlinked to the main page. This way, no matter where one is in the site, by
clicking the logo on the header, one will easily come back to the homepage.
This project is in its initial stages. So far, the
index, the news page, and the first quarter of the songs starting with A have
been updated. If the upper left logo is not linked to the
KKSongs Homepage or if a linked page is not linked correctly, please contact
KKSongs.org so this may be corrected.
EKADASI

NEW
SONG LYRICS UPLOADS:
There are a handful of songs that have been uploaded
to the site. The theme of the new songs is songs of Adi Sankaracarya. While he
preached impersonalism and Mayavada to the world, in his heart, he was a pure
personalist who was a great devotee of Sri Krsna. Therefore, to celebrate his
devotion, we are featuring his bhajans and prayers to the Supreme Personality
of Godhead. In addition, some songs of Bilvamangala Thakura, Sura Dasa, and
other Vaisnava acaryas have been posted here.
INDIAN
SCRIPTS PAGE PROJECT:
The process of converting the Indian script page to Unicode
(as opposed to the previously used JPEGs) is continuing nicely. So far, the
most common Bhaktivinoda Thakura songs have been uploaded for online viewing.
Basically, the target songs are going to be the common songs found in the BBT
Songs of the Vaisnava Acaryas book and the Nectar Book’s More Songs of the
Vaisnava Acaryas. Once these songs and the ones featured on the Scripts page
have been converted to Unicode, the JPEGs will be deleted two months after.
Eventually, the goal is to convert all songs with
diacritic markings to Unicode. Please bear in mind that by default, all Hindi,
Brajabhasa, and Sanskrit songs are in Devanagari and all Bengali songs are in
Bengali script. If you wish for another conversions, please visit the Contact
KKSongs.org and the customized one will be done for you.
AUTHORS
PAGE:
Adi Sanakracarya and Vyasadeva have photos now.
Vyasadeva’s page has a biography attached as well. Most of the other authors
have their song quotas updated.

Few more songs have been uploaded on KKSongs.org.
Some rare songs by Locana Dasa Thakura, Srinivasa Acarya, Vasudeva Ghosa, Sura
Dasa, and Prabhu Nityananda Dasa have been uploaded. A new collection of songs
was donated to KKSongs.org within the last week and they will be uploaded as
the summer progresses.
On the Notations page songs till Sundara Mora have
been updated with the audio guides.
The Devanagari/Bengali Unicode scripts pages are
undergoing major construction. They will ultimately be the page that everyone
will be referred to. The JPEG pages will only be kept for those who have
trouble viewing Unicode in Devanagari/Bengali. If you use
Windows XP or higher, you should be able to view the Devanagari and Bengali
Unicode fonts. Links will be rerouted during this process. Please
forgive us for the set backs and any inconveniences caused.
Hare Krsna!
The KKSongs Glossary is completed for online
viewing. Please keep in mind that as time comes, more words will be added. This
part of the site is diacritic specific. In the process, efforts to use correct
diacritic markings have been used. If there are any errors, please contact
KKSongs.org.
As far as the Notations page is concerned, harmonium
audio clips have been uploaded for songs up to Radhe Radhe Syama Sri Radhe
(edited).
The Glossary is almost complete! The pages up to S
have been uploaded.
Hari Bol!
Today is Nrsimha Caturdasi,
the appearance day of Lord Nrsimhadeva, the man-lion incarnation of Krsna, who
came to protect Prahlada Maharaja from Hiranyakasipu. It is recommended that
one fasts till dusk and engages themselves in service
of Lord Nrsimhadeva or chants his
one-hundred eight names and the Nrsimha kavaca
mahamantra. One may also read the seventh canto of the Bhagavatam with
the pastime and glories of Lord Nrsimha.
There is a new addition to the Notations Guide. Some
of the songs, in the past, had guide links. Major weaknesses in the old MP3s
include the low quality and lack of rhythm. The new audio guides will serve
like a karaoke to allow students to practice singing or playing the song, or
for mridanga students to accompany simple melodic pieces. For these reasons,
the karaokes features no voice.
So far, all songs through Om Namo Bhagavate
Vasudevaya are completed. Harmonium and kartals are featured courtesy of
Swarsystems.
KKSongs.org welcomes its newest feature! Imagine
trying to read a nice bhajan, decide to learn to play it on the harmonium, and
read into its translation, find out about who wrote it, and maybe even learn
the rhythm and the raga details! That’s a nice spectrum from devotional poetry
to biography of the author from the basic harmonium notation to the true music
theory of
Without having to look for a specific page to learn
one word, the KKSongs Glossary can be of big help. The glossary contains words,
names, phrases, and such all of facets of the site. Whether it is spirituality
related or musically related, you can find it in the glossary. As time comes,
more words will be uploaded onto the glossary.
So far, words from A through K have been uploaded.
Today is Rama Navami, the
anniversary of the appearance of Lord Ramacandra. Sri Rama appeared on earth to
demonstrate the duty of an ideal man and king. To observe this holiday, it is
recommended that one reads pastimes of Lord through Ramayana and worship Lord
Rama through devotional songs and chants. You may read a summary of the
Ramayana here. In
addition, one may fast until sunset.
While the KKSongs Glossary is still under major
construction, the Ramayana glossary is posted here.
Today is Gaura Purnima, the
anniversary of the appearance of Lord Caitanya. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared
on earth 522 years ago. To observe this holiday, it is recommended that one
reads pastimes of Lord Caitanya Mahaparabhu from the Caitanya Caritamrta and sing
bhajans of Lord Caitanya and His associates.
The Bhatkhande updates are completed up to the end
of S.

Lord Siva that day. To understand Lord Siva’s position and glories, an article

Vaisnava.”
March

Please fast till moonrise that day, and attend your local Gaudiya Vaisnava
temple to celebrate His appearance day.

BHATKHANDE
NOTATION UPDATES:

of this month, all current songs posted will be using this format.
MANDATORY
UNICODE:
The
site will no longer operate on Baraha based fonts for the Devanagari and

BHATKHANDE
NOTATION UPDATES:
From the previous update, the Talamala and Khol
Guides have been updates with newer version of Bhatkhande notation. This is
meant to be much quicker than loading several .JPEG files. The Notations of
Vaisnava Songs are under update. Songs before Jaya Radha Madhava are updated
with the newer Bhatkhande format.
Please note that the newer Bhatkhande format will
cause some “unevenness” when fractional matras are placed. Please note that all
between two adjacent number holds the value of one beat, even though the “size”
might contract.
MELAKARTA
GUIDE UPDATES:
The Melakarta Chart has been updated. Instead of
seventy-two links, it is one large table. Audio clips for the Melakartas will
be uploaded once they are recorded. To aid one in Carnatic notation, a link to
the Carnatic keyboard is posted.

REQUIRED RESOURCE FOR THIS SITE:
Excluding the teaching tutorials, any page of
KKSongs.org containing Bengali or Hindi fonts will be changed. Previously,
these pages contained .JPEG files. The process of removing the JPEGs will
continue periodically until completion approximately April 2008.
The required fonts can be downloaded on the
RESOURCES page above.
Hari Bol!
Happy New Year! Welcome to the not-to-so exciting,
but slightly newer version of the website. The newer version of the homepage
has all the links fixed at one spot on top. Therefore, for small resolution
monitors, one would not have to scroll all the day down. Plus, this allows the
news to be longer, as opposed to previously, where it had been truncated for
the sake of space.
Along with the new format, there is a nice load of
updates!

LYRICS RELOCATED:
